Sugata Mitra

Sugata Mitra presents an interesting concept where children can organize into their own learning community using technology with no correlation between ethnicity, socioeconomic differences, or location. It was interesting to see the children work together learning language and a variety of other information through self-discovery and socialization guiding one another to success. I would be interested in seeing this "hole in the wall" experiment tried in the United States in some of our areas that are "remote" in his definition.

  1. What a great study that would be to do this same thing here. I can only imagine!

  2. In the United States the starting point is different, even in a "remote" area. Would there be the same increase in learning?

  3. Another limiting factor in our system is time. How do we negotiate time and self-directed student learning within our system? What about those students who aren't motivated by a computer?

  4. Self-Organization is a wonderful concept. In nature it develops complex systems of harmony and growth. In an system of learning could children self-organize to greatness and interdependence?
